Using your Macintosh software to connect

The Macintosh requires that you set up both the dialer (ConfigPPP or FreePPP) and then set up your TCP/IP protocol.

Setting up your dialer
Go to your Apple menu, then Control Panels, and see whether you have ConfigPPP or FreePPP.

Setting up your TCP/IP protocol.
Go to your Apple menu, then Control Panels, and see whether you have MacTCP or TCP/IP.


ConfigPPP Configuration

Bring up Config PPP and make a New PPP Server .

Click on Config and change the phone number to the local dial up number

Click on Connect Script and make sure nothing is entered.. Click OK.


FreePPP Configuration

Bring up FreePPP and fill in the items as below.
Here's the General tab.

Here's the Account tab.
Enter the local diaulup number

Here's the Locations tab.

Here's the Modems tab.
This is for a typical 28.8 modem. Your modem may have a different configuration or init string. It's very important to have Flow Control set as shown.


MacTCP

Bring up the MacTCP control panel.
Select PPP and click on More.
Fill in the information as shown below. You'll have to restart you Mac for these changes to take affect.


Open Transport TCP/IP

Open the TCP/IP control panel and fill in the information as shown below.


You'll have to reconfigure your various applications to reflect the new servers. Go into the Options/Preferences/Setup of each application and replace isp with the new one.
