| We
need to decide the following in regards to games:
* How
many games we will be playing
* Which
games we will be playing
* What
the prizes are that will be given out to the Winners
* How
many prizes we need to buy
* What
the price is that we should spend on each prize
Here's
a suggestion:
Each
one of us bridesmaid buys one (or maybe two) Shower Game Gift(s) which
corresponds to our Shower Theme. If we go with the Soothing or Stress
Free Shower, the gifts can be candles, bath products, moisturizers, potpourri,
compacts, make up brush set, drawer sachets, gift baskets, etc.
We should
set a limit as to how much each of us should spend on each gift.
I would think that either $5.00 or $10.00 would be appropriate. If
each one of us bridesmaid buys one gift, then we would have five Shower
Game Gifts. If we each buy two gifts, then we will have ten Shower
Game Gifts to give out.
Below
is a list of games that I have either played before at showers or have
found them on other bridal shower web sites that I thought looked interesting:

Bride
Walk
|
| Have
the bride wear an apron and walk through the crowd. Pin about 30 different
and unusual things on the apron. The group is instructed to pay close attention
to the bride walking through the room. Once she is out of the room we ask
a group of questions. The twist here is that you ask questions about the
bride, not the items pinned to her apron; i.e., what color are her eyes,
shoes, was her hair up or down. It works out pretty good because most people
are caught off guard. |

The
Clothespin Game
|
| Each
guest receives a clothespin when they arrive. They must clip it to
their clothes somewhere and wear it throughout the entire shower UNLESS...
The object here is to not cross your legs. If you do, and another
guest catches you, they claim your clothespin. Don't worry, you're
not out of the game - just keep an eye out for someone else crossing their
legs! If you claim some clothespins, and then get caught crossing
- whoever catches you gets ALL your clothespins. The guest with the
most clothespins wins! |
|
|
Draw
the Lucky Number
|
| Number
the name tags before they are given to the guests as they arrive beginning
with the number "1." Then put corresponding numbers on pieces of
paper, wad them up, and place them in a basket or bowl. Near the
end of the party, ask the Bride or Groom to draw a wad of paper out of
the basket or bowl. The winning number receives the prize.
Have the Bride or Groom give the prize and her personal thank you for coming
to the Shower to the lucky winner. |

Oh
where, Oh where is my...
|
| I did
this game when I a shower I went to once and it is really harder than you
think!! You get a large bowl and dump 2 pounds of uncooked white
rice in it. Then you add about 15 to 20 paper clips and mix it well. Place
the bowl on a table and blind fold the person that's going to play. The
person who finds the most paper clips wins. It's a lot harder than
you think it is, and it's also a lot of fun to watch how close people get
to grabbing the clips. |

Bridal
Bingo #2
|
| Make
Bingo cards... but put BRIDE at the top instead of BINGO. Leave all
of the squares blank. Each guest gets a card and has to fill in the
squares with gifts they thought the bride might receive. As the bride
opens her gifts, the guests mark their bingo cards with M&M's.
When someone gets bingo, give them a prize. |
|
|
Giveaway
|
| While
the bride is opening gifts, set a timer. Each time the timer rings,
whose ever gift the bride is opening wins a gift. This is a good
game for a shower attended by women of all ages. |
|
|
Guessing
Game
|
| Fill
some large glass jars with items such as homemade cookies, jellybeans,
uncooked pasta, gum balls, M&M's, or chocolates. Have each guest
guess how many pieces are in each jar. The person who guesses the closest
to the true number of items in each jar gets to take jar as well as the
goodies home.
To keep
in line with the Soothing Shower Theme, we can fill the jars with bath
crystals, bath salts, bath beads, miniature bath soaps, Q-tips, cotton
balls, etc. We can decorate the outside of the jars as well to make
them special and pretty. |

Purse
Power!
|
| This
is a great game!! Have all the guests have their purses in front
of them for this game. Make a list (beforehand) of common and uncommon
things that can be found in a woman's purse. Liven things up a bit
and put down a condom. The list is endless and is great fun!!
Keep at least some items simple and not too uncommon or you may wind up
with an unhappy guest who doesn't have anything but a wallet in her purse!!
Whoever has the most items in their purse wins!! |
|
|
Variation
of Purse Power!
|
| A fun,
quick shower game is to have everyone get their purses out. Give
them the name of an item they may have in their purse and give a prize
to the first person to pull the item out of their purse.
You can start with common things like a nail file or a hairbrush, but it
starts to get crazy when you start asking for things like buttons, bobby
pins, toothpicks, sewing kits, you name it!!! It is fun to see who
has the craziest stuff in their purses!!! And it is one time when
it can pay off to have everything but the kitchen sink in your purse!!! |

Notes:
|
| Here's
something I found at a popular bridal shower website which I thought was
good regarding games:
Try to
have a variety of games to appeal to everyone - no more than 3 though,
because you have other things to do! Don't have all written games
- try to get people to talk to each other or move around for at least one
activity.
This
will keep them from feeling like they are just "sitting there" - and some
people don't do well at the traditional written games. |
